Bringing the Holy Eucharist to the sick and homebound. . .
Remember the Lord said “that you comforted me when you visited the sick.” Here is your opportunity to comfort the sick and homebound.
Eucharistic Ministers bring the Holy Eucharist to Elder Care facilities in Reading, as well as visits to the homebound. Beautiful relationships have flourished by sharing Jesus through the Holy Eucharist, and spending time with those homebound.
Do you know someone whose spirit would be lifted up by a visit? Would you like to join Our Lady of Comfort, visiting the sick and lonely? Please contact Anne Rand by email at amlr9@aol.com.
Christ the King Ministry of Bereavement…..supporting those who have suffered the death of a family member or friend
If one member suffers in the body of Christ which is the Church,
all the members suffer with that member. 1 Corinthians 12:26
Christ the King Parish believes that no one should grieve alone. In service and support of our parishioners and community, the Ministry of Bereavement (MoB) will assist our pastor and clergy in providing bereavement and spiritual support for parishioners who have experienced the death of a family member or friend.

Care and the love of knitting (and crochet) have been combined into a prayerful ministry that reaches out to those in need of comfort and solace to members of the parish who are sick or homebound. Many blessings are knitted into every shawl. The knitter begins each shawl with prayers for the recipient. Intentions are continued throughout the creation of the shawl. When the shawl is completed it is offered a final blessing before being sent along its way.

We have an Annual Blessing of shawls, blankets and chemo hats in February in conjunction with World Day of the Sick, an observation introduced by Pope John Paul II as a way for believers to offer prayers for those suffering from illnesses. World Day of the Sick falls on the Feast of Our Lady of Lourdes, and it is an important occasion for individuals to reflect on caring for those who are sick as well as those who care for them.
“Life is sacred. Life is a mystery. Life must be protected, nurtured, respected. The Gospel of Life is the centerpiece of the Church’s social teaching…It is our task to witness to the truth that love, compassion and solidarity can build a just society that will be safer for the poor, the unborn and those on the periphery.”
Seán Cardinal O’Malley, OFM Cap, Pro-Life Homily - 1/23/20
This Ministry seeks to promote the sacredness of life from conception to natural death within our parishes and our community. Members sponsor and arrange education on various issues. Learn more about the Sanctity of Life Ministry.

Since 1833, the Society of St. Vincent de Paul has been serving those in need worldwide and for the past 10 years in Reading.
We are men and women who strive to grow spiritually by offering person-to-person service to individuals in need. We are part of an international society of friends united by a spirit of poverty, humility, and sharing, which is nourished by prayer and reflection.
Energized by the awareness that service to our brother or sister in need is in fact an encounter with our Lord Jesus Christ, members of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul are keenly aware that poverty, suffering and loneliness are present for millions in our communities. For that reason, we collaborate with all who seek to relieve need and address its causes.
Please join members of the St. Vincent de Paul Society and your fellow parishioners for a quiet and spiritual Rosary session each Tuesday evening at 7:00 PM at St. Agnes.
All are welcome.
