One of the traditional practices in the Church at the time of Confirmation is choosing a name that will remind you of this sacrament and to signify your new and deeper awareness of what it means to be a disciple of Jesus. If the choice is made to add a new name, it is to be a Christian name. It should reflect a saint whom you can admire and imitate.
Candidates are required to choose a Saint's name to become their Confirmation name and should be a person they wish to emmulate. If you are choosing to use your given name as your Confirmation Name, you will write your given name on the online form.

As Catholics, we are called, and Chosen, by God to affirm our faith in the Sacrament of Confirmation. Confirmation completes our "Initiation" into the Catholic Church. Preparation is a two year process that begins in 9th grade and continues through 10th grade. It includes small group meetings, weekly celebration of the Eucharist, service to others, and spending time with God in prayer.
Candidates meet in Small Groups led by a volunteer Catechist. In the second year of preparation, Candidates remain in the same small group and with the same leader as the first year of preparation.
Though Confirmation I candidates attending Catholic School are not required to attend group meetings there are many who do in the Spirit of community with their Confirmation Candidate peers and with our parishes.
Confirmation II candidates attending Catholic School are required to attend Group meetings.
Preparation for the Sacrament of Confirmation is a two-year journey, beginning in grade 9 (typically) and continuing in grade 10. Grade 9 students who are attending a Catholic School are encouraged - by not required - to attend the first year of preparation; these students are required to attend the 2nd year of preparation.

Confirmation is one of the sacraments of initiation, along with Baptism and Eucharist. While baptism is the sacrament of rebirth to a new and supernatural life, confirmation is the sacrament of maturity and coming of age. It is conferred by the anointing of Chrism oil and the laying on of hands by the Bishop. The Sacrament of Confirmation draws us into a greater awareness of the Holy Spirit, which we received at Baptism. Through this sacrament, we confirm the presence of the baptismal gifts we have already received; we are sealed with the undeserved and unearned gift of the Holy Spirit.
