This information pertains to students who attended
the Grade 8 Summer Program in July 2024,
or are enrolled in Grade 8 in the Fall 2024.
Last Spring the Archdiocese of Boston lowered the age/grade of the reception for the Sacrament of Confirmation. It has given a three-year time frame for parishes to migrate in this direction of preparing children to receive their sacrament of Confirmation in 8th Grade.
After a thoughtful conversation with our new Pastor, Fr. Bobby LeBlanc, we have decided that Christ the King Parish will continue to offer a two-year preparation program for the Sacrament of Confirmation.
This past summer, July 2024, we launched Year 1 Preparation for Confirmation to those in our 8th Grade Summer Program. The Preparation resource used at this time was Lifeteen's PURPOSE Program for Confirmation Prep - adapted for 8th Graders.What does this mean for your child?
All children that participated in this past July's Summer Program have completed the class expectations for their Year 1 Curriculum, Confirmation Preparation.
All children enrolled to participate in the Fall Grade 8 Program (beginning October 2024) will complete their Year 1 class expectations over the course of this upcoming year. Classes will meet on Monday nights, 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the St. Agnes Parish Center

What happens next year (Fall 2025)?
As a 9th Grader (in the Fall of 2025), students must enroll for Year 2. (Online enrollment beginning in the Spring 2025). Upon completing the Year 2 preparation process, students will all be eligible to celebrate the Sacrament of Confirmation.
The dates of the celebrations depend upon the local Episcopal Vicar/Bishop's schedule.
Confirmation dates for 2025/2026 (next year) will be communicated and posted on this site.

Grade 8 - Year 1 Confirmation Information Meeting
DATE: Sunday, September 29, 4:00 PM
LOCATION: St. Agnes Church
All Grade 8 Parents and Candidates are invited to this Year 1 Information Meeting.- Our first class is Monday, October 7th, at St. Agnes Parish Center.
(updated 10/1/2024) - All 8th Graders (both Fall and Summer Program participants) are expected to attend Mass on a regular Schedule and engage in Service Project.
- There will be a monthly Youth Mass,. 5:30 PM at St. Agnes Church.
- The first Mass is Sunday, October 20th at 5:30 PM at St. Agnes Church.
This Mass is an opportunity for your child, their prospective Sponsor and your family to worship together, and participate in this, the spiritual journey to full initiation.
